This is Barbossa from the movie "Pirates of the Caribbean".

I'm now using the Smooth paper that Strathmore puts out, instead of the Vellum, which has a bit of tooth to it. I like the combination of a 2H pencil and the smoother paper.

I did this one with a 2H pencil for the most part, and then used a 4B for the darkest parts.

I loved doing this one of Sam. Like Merriodoc, he has a very expressive face...

I'm expanding my sketch cards to include some of the images and characters from Narnia. I just loved little Lucy in that movie! Here she is, entering the wardrobe that will lead her to Narnia.

I'm in the mood for doing some pencil work again, so thought I'd work on a few "sketch cards", which are basically ACEO's with sketches on them instead of paintings.

One thing I learned about crows during this "crow painting" phase, is that baby crows have blue eyes. They're actually kind of cute!

Well, the crow phenomenon seems to be slowing down a bit; I'll probably paint a few more of them, because I have found it a fun exercise to come up with ideas for little paintings featuring these birds...
