This is a larger version of "Lady Weighing Gold", my copy of a segment of Jan Vermeer's painting.
It measures 8" by 10" and is painted in oil on Masonite Board. This painting was commissioned by a customer.

This ACEO was inspired by the many lovely old buildings and barns I drove by on a snowy day last weekend. I just love those lonely, decrepit farm buildings!

SOLD

After a rather frustrating first attempt, during which I was getting bogged down with detail, I finally started over and came up with this quick study. Doing the quicker study helps me to stay looser in my work, and that's what I'm aiming for!

Well, it seems that the tiny ACEO's are more likely to attract customers on ebay than the larger paintings do, so I think I'll be making more of them as my Daily Painting. Got to be able to keep buying paints and groceries!!

Painting with acrylics is so much faster, I actually completed TWO paintings today!!
Love these smooth stones. Not sure what to do with them, but I think they look pretty in this glass vase!
I'm definitely loving the acrylics! It's the answer to getting a painting done each day; It will still take more time before I'm totally at home with this medium. I feel like I've gone over to "the enemy side"! But I think there's now no turning back!

O.K. I'm back to acrylics! I was having such a busy week, I just couldn't seem to finish a painting in oil in one day. Doing this one in acrylics has fueled my intention to keep working with that medium. Not only does the paint dry quickly, there is no smelly turpentine to deal with........and water is free!

I love the shape of pears. Still trying to achieve a "looser" look in my work....

SOLD

This little ACEO was painted several months ago; just thought I'd post it since I couldn't get my painting for today finished before the light failed and a good digital photo became impossible! I painted a series of ACEO's which were copies of paintings of the Old Masters. Vermeer is definitely one of my favourite painters!

SOLD

I decided to try and paint on one of those thin cedar boards that they sell in the stores for grilling. I'd rather paint on them than cook on them!

I worked on several projects today, so I only had time to create this ACEO for my daily painting. (ACEO stands for Art Cards, Editions and Originals).

I am loving the masonite panels as a painting surface!
