SOLD

I think I'll use Gessoed Masonite for my canvas from now on! The paint dries much quicker than it does on canvas.

I only had time to do an ACEO (2.5" by 3.5") because of a day spent at a Craft Show.

Still haven't eaten my persimmons! They're faithfully posing for me these days...

I've never tasted one of these but they have a colour and shape that cries out to be painted!

Another painting done with the wet-on-wet style. Challenging, but fun!

I think I wore my fingerprints off working the oil pastel into the sanded paper!

I just love my old enamel coffee pot.......no longer useful for serving coffee, but great for still life paintings!

This is a second one for this day, October 17.
SOLD

This is the "oil" version of the two kinds of pears. Luckily I had most of it done before my two year old grandson, Gus, came for a visit; he saw the still life setup, and happily took the luscious red pear and began to eat it!

My friend Martha, also an artist, suggested I might like to work in acrylics for my daily paintings, since oil takes so long to dry. I usually don't like acrylics too much, but found this little painting a pleasure to do! Thanks for the suggestion, Martha!

I had great fun doing this one; I think I'm getting closer to achieving the "painterly" look that I want .....It helps to paint quickly, which is what one has to do in order to produce a painting-a-day!

Just a quick study of a mango for today's painting. With church on Sundays, and family over for lunch, there isn't much time to paint!

SOLD

I bought these lovely pears this morning; Now that I'm finished my painting, I can eat them! This painting has been done with Oil Pastels. I'm finding it a challenge to complete works in oil paint, because the wet-on-wet technique doesn't always want to work!

SOLD

This is my painting for the day; Painting the garlic proved to be a bit trickier than I'd anticipated.....I really had to work on the different values.

SOLD

Well, here's my first "daily painting"! This is an ACEO, meaning it measures a mere 2.5" by 3.5". It will be posted on ebay and can be found by typing the word "joyart" into the ebay search bar.
One more example of my previous work. From now on, I'll be posting my paintings "fresh off the easel"!
Just to show an example of a larger work, here is my painting of a young duck. This painting measures 11" by 14" and is done in Oils on Masonite board.

Welcome to my blog! Since I have been creating daily paintings for the last two years, I'd love to join a Daily Painters Group; they require that I keep a blog for several months before I can qualify to join.........so, here I am! Currently all my work is sold through Ebay, to people who collect ACEO's, which stands for Art Cards, Editions and Originals. These paintings must measure the size of a playing card (2.5" by 3.5") in order to qualify as an ACEO. I plan to post both sold and unsold work. If you are interested in acquiring one of my paintings, you can email me. Many of my first posts will show the tiny paintings, but my plan is to make larger ones as well!
